Log 29, Myrtle, downer

Log 29, Myrtle, downer.  This curved log was salvaged from an area harvested in the Florentine valley during the 1960's, from the regenerated forest which is now being harvested.  Naturally its sapwood has rotted away while rot and pin hole borer traces are likely to affect some heartwood.  Rot, bumps, burls and flame figure are visible at the butt end.  The head end has a double head and appears to be more solid. The percentage of recovered timber during milling may not be high but the timber pieces could be high quality. It could be milled in one or two pieces.  Length 4.4 metres, adjusted butt diameter 65 cm, adjusted head diameter 55 cm, volume about 1.2 cubic metres, weight about 1200 kg.  This log could milled to order at IST Geeveston on their Woodmizer bandsaw mill at $220 / hour; the timber can be collected or freighted to your address strapped and wrapped on a pallet.
